The family that prays

I had the pleasure of photographing one of the sweetest families I've ever met this weekend. They were contagiously funny. Most everyone knows I'm a people watcher. Not judging or jealousy, but innately interested in what makes people tick. This family left me with some great revelations.

1. Dad's the head of the household-he beams with an overwhelming love for his family. Although he didn't say much it was written all over his face. The way he looks at his wife is what fairytales are made of.

2. Mom is where all the goodness & grace comes from. She has a wonderful sweet nature about her that could only come from Above. She's also bombshell gorgeous.

3. If you ever intend to date any of the three children you'll have to have the other twos approval. They are incredibly close. A gift given to them by their parents great example. 

So, everybody, meet the Gordillos. 

1st day back at it

It wasn't so bad. Or so I thought. Today wore on me much more quickly than I thought it would. 8 good 10 good 1 good 3 uh oh 4 oh my 530 squalling mess. 

So my question, how do I change it? I focus on making sure my kids have every opportunity, every chance in life. I push them until we bleed to do more & be more than I ever could. So how do I change my own fate? How do I make my life better? 

My question, my prayer.

Prayer Request, Roller Coasters, & Big Weekends

 

It's here! This Friday & Saturday night Patience will be competing in Miss Mississippi USA. It's been quite a journey getting to this point. She's grown exponentially over the past seven months. I couldn't be prouder of the young lady she's become. She's incredibly excited to be taking part in this experience & all the opportunities it affords. She's very excited for the exposure she'll be able to get for Sara and other kids of Compassion International if she's chosen to represent Mississippi in Miss USA 2014.
She's had some incredibly life changing events take place this month so she's ready to get off this roller coaster at this point & get back to her version of normal. Please say a special prayer for her & all the ladies competing this weekend. I cant imagine how stressful it must be for them.

Murphy's Law

Rough, rough week so far. I think all wives/mommies get to a point where they get tired of pushing everyone all day every day. Did you water the horses, take out the trash, pay the water bill, buy the outfit you have to have for an occasion, remember to brush your teeth, did you do your homework, why did your teacher call me, whys the cc company calling me, you do realize your going to be wearing a bikini in front of the world, oh sure I can leave my job that pays the bills every month because you couldn't possibly take off from your "I make $250 a month" job, yea sure you can go here & do this or that, I don't need any help, yes please please ask me about trading your truck one more time for that fuel efficient extended cab 1998 model with only a little rust on it, really really nobody took him to his guitar lesson, how about that $80 blah blah blah.  

Well I'm definitely tired. Anyway the bright spot in my day was this cutie from the ball game Friday night. Check out those adorable brown eyes.

Stick a fork in me I'm done & headed for bed so I can do it allllll over again tomorrow. 

Bright lights & big hair

We had a pageant seminar at Harrahs this weekend. I was very impressed with these two ladies. On the left, Madison Brock Miss MS USA Teen (an Ole Miss girl) & on the right, Paromita Mitra Miss MS USA (Hail State). We also met Kimberly Greenwood of Greenwood Productions. I was incredibly impressed & humbled by her sweet spirit.

So this happened today

Somebody, not naming any names, is obsessed with firemen & all things related. So today we caught that obsession on film. 

Yes, yes I am still awake ...

It's unfortunate I know but between midnight & 2am I get some of the best edits done. Someday I pray I'll get to do my passion to make my living. Then they'll be many more of those 2am awesome edits. Here's a pretty cool one that came around two.

This is the coolest kid ever! He has my heart. Someday he'll make some very lucky lady the best husband ever. He opens doors for me, protects me from creepy spiders, hugs me after a long day. Yep, I'm a very lucky mom.

A kid & A Cause

So proud of this kid. She decided to sponsor a child through Compassion International & it's changed, well, everything for her. Her outlook on life, the way she sees things. Here's a picture of her (in my best jersey voice) representiiin.

Sundays, VMA's & editing days

Well I've missed the VMA's. I hear I didn't miss much. Edited some vacation shots today. It really made me miss the sand between my toes. Watched a couple of movies. 42, have you seen it? It's about Jackie Robinson & his very inspiring journey the to the top. My goodness we've come a long way as a nation.
